Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is a prestigious, two-week academic summer program known for its global diversity and commitment to providing over $3 million USD in need-based financial aid to students worldwide. With a rich history of welcoming over 2,000 students from 150+ countries and all 50 U.S. states, YYGS stands as one of the most culturally inclusive summer programs globally.

How to Apply

Step 7: Submit your application by clicking the “Submit Application” button. Step 8: Pay the application fee of $70 USD for Early Action or $85 USD for Regular Decision. All fees are non-refundable. Step 9: Check your inbox for a confirmation receipt within 24-48 hours of submission.

Eligibility
To apply to YYGS, you must meet these requirements:
- Age: 16-18 years old.
- English Fluency: Able to participate in English-taught classes.
- Grade Level: Current high school sophomore or junior.
- YYGS Participation: First-time YYGS participants.
YYGS accepts applications from all countries and provides need-based financial aid to all eligible students.
Required Application Components
- Activities list
- One 400-word essay and one 200-word response
- Two “fast take” responses (280 characters each)
- Official school transcript
- One recommender (using YYGS Recommendation Form)
- Application fee
- Optional: English fluency test scores (TOEFL or DuoLingo)
- Optional: Need-based financial aid application
Fee Waiver
YYGS may waive the application fee for students with significant financial need. Students can request a fee waiver through the Fee Waiver Request Form.
Tuition & Aid
Tuition: $6,500 USD (covers on-campus components, excluding travel)
Need-Based Financial Aid: Need-based financial aid is available to both domestic and international students.
